Salen a la luz los nominados a los premios
Se va acercando el fin del año y, como cada uno, sale a la luz la lista de videojuegos que competirán en los The Game Awards para conseguir el premio entre otros muchos, al mejor juego del año.

- Mejor juego de realidad virtual/aumentada: Superhot, Star Trek: Brigade Crew, Lone Echo, Farpoint, Resident Evil VII: Biohazard.
- Mejor juego de acción: Prey, Nioh, Destiny 2, Cuphead, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.
- Mejor juego de aventura: Uncharted: El Legado Perdido, Assassin’s Creed: Origins, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Horizon: Zero Dawn.
- Mejor juego de rol: South Park: Retaguardia en Peligro, Final Fantasy XV, Divinity: Original Sin II, NieR: Automata, Persona 5.
- Mejor juego de lucha: Tekken 7, Nidhogg 2, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Injustice 2, ARMS.
- Mejor juego familiar: Splatoon 2, Sonic Mania, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey.
- Mejor juego de estrategia: XCOM 2: War of the Chosen, Tooth and Tail, Total War: Warhammer II, Halo: Wars 2, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle.
- Mejor juego de deportes: Project Cars 2, Pro Evolution Soccer 2018, NBA 2K18, Gran Turismo Sport, Forza Motorsport 7, FIFA 18.
- Mejor juego multijugador: Fortnite, Call of Duty: WWII, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Destiny 2, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
- Juego más esperado: The Last of Us: Part II, Red Dead Redemption II, Monster Hunter: World, Spider-Man, God of War.
- Mejor juego independiente: Pyre, Night in the Woods, Cuphead, What Remains of Edith Finch, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
- Mejor juego de estudiantes: Meaning, Level Squared, Impulsion, Falling Sky, Hollowed, From Light.
Los premios serán elegidos mediante los votos sacados en la página de The Game Awards y por un jurado compuesto por diversos medios internacionales.
